The Story

Walnut Creek, CA

Ryan Sechler has been a dedicated Scout since he was six years old and is currently working toward the rank of Eagle Scout. To earn this honor, Ryan must complete an Eagle Scout Project. Ryan hopes to become a doctor in the future and wanted to choose a project related to the medical field. His main goal is to make a direct impact on his community.

While looking for a project, Ryan discovered an opportunity to work with his local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a volunteer organization that assists the community if a disaster occurs. Ryan decided to assemble medical supply bags with the necessary medical equipment and sufficient supplies the organization requires during disasters. He will be collecting a specific list of medical supplies that he will put into supply bags. Ryan is also working with local hospitals and other organizations in hopes of having most of the necessary medical supplies donated.

Once Ryan has the adequate supplies, he will hold a day where all the supplies purchased and donated will be put into separate supply bags by his troop members. Ryan hopes to have the bags assembled and delivered to CERT in August. These medical supply bags will be used for current CERT members to practice in drills and if there is a disaster that takes place in the area. “I feel like this project can really make a difference in my community because it has the possibility to save lives,” said Ryan.

Ryan hopes to raise $1,000 to purchase the medical supplies that are not donated by hospitals and other organizations. These medical supplies will go directly into bags to be donated to CERT members. Donate today and help Ryan and his troop support their local CERT organization through medical supply bags!
