The Story

Mobile, AL

The Hearin-Chandler Family YMCA is devoted to enriching the lives of local youth in Mobile, Alabama. The organization is able to achieve this goal by offering after-school care and summer camp. These programs give children the opportunity to grow personally, make memories, and create lifelong friendships.

With the help of dedicated staff and volunteers, the Hearin-Chandler Family YMCA is able to offer a variety of youth development programs that encourage kids to stay active, adventurous, and healthy during the summertime. Over 400 children per year go to the Hearin-Chandler Family YMCA for after-school care and summer camp. However, with the organization growing, and the summer months quickly approaching, the facility is in need of renovations to the parking lot and outdoor play areas. These renovations will help make the grounds safe and accessible to the community and children attending youth programs.

The Hearin-Chandler Family YMCA hopes to raise $4,750 through RedBasket.org to repair the parking lot and make updates to the playground and other outdoor areas. “This campaign is important so we can repair our deteriorated parking lot and playground. We would like to start the process as quickly as possible to make our youth services better for the future,” said youth services director, Brittany Brown.
