The Story

Savannah, GA

Austin Lee (8) is a joyful little boy whose love for life and learning is contagious. Whether it’s playing with his trains, playing outside, doing puzzles, or reading books, Austin loves to have fun.

For the first five years of Austin’s life, he lived in an orphanage. Then in 2014, he was adopted by Ryan and Josh Lee. This was one of the happiest moments of the Lee family’s lives. Ryan and Josh are incredibly blessed to be his parents and Mary is incredibly proud to be his big sister. However, due to spending five years in an orphanage, Austin’s development has been greatly impacted.

Since being adopted into the Lee family, Austin has come a long way. “He has learned so much and made more progress than we could have imagined in his short time home,” said Ryan. He is a very social little boy who makes his presence known wherever he goes. However, he struggles with anxiety and over-stimulation.

More than anything, Austin’s family wants him to live his best life. After doing some research, they have decided to get Austin a service dog. Austin’s service dog will be trained to anchor him when he tries to wander off and provide deep pressure to calm him when his anxiety or over-stimulation gets the best of him. “We are so very excited for Austin’s future and how much assistance his service dog will provide,” said Ryan.

The Lees hope to raise $6,000 through RedBasket.org to purchase a dog, train it to become a service animal, and to assist with other miscellaneous expenses for the dog. “A service dog would be a huge blessing as it will allow Austin to be more independent as he grows, will calm him down when he is anxious or over-stimulated, and will keep him safe when he gets distracted,” said Ryan. Your fee-free donation will help Austin continue to grow and gain independence. Donate and share his story today!
