The Story

Sneads, FL

Maison Fulton (16) is an active young girl with a passion for the performing arts and a devotion to her church. When she isn’t at school, Maison stays busy by attending church activities, going to youth choir practices, and participating in community theatre performances. Unfortunately, due to her recent diagnosis of hydronephrosis, she has had to limit herself in the activities she loves.

For nearly five years, Maison has been dealing with pain in her left side and back. After having her gallbladder removed in July 2017, both she and her mom, Amy, thought she would finally feel relief. However, after six months, Maison was still having stomach issues and doctors found that she had a pancreatic enzyme deficiency. Due to this condition, she must take medication with each meal. Then in January 2018, a trip to the emergency room revealed that she had hydronephrosis, a stricture in her kidney. “We thought her pancreas was the reason for our trip to the emergency room which led to the discovery of the hydronephrosis,” said Amy. On March 1, Maison and Amy got news that shocked them. Maison’s kidney was barely functioning and she would need to have her kidney removed.

Maison’s diagnosis of hydronephrosis has affected her physically, mentally, and emotionally. With constantly being on the go, Maison never let anything slow her down. However, due to fatigue, when she gets home from school, church, or any theatre practices, she is exhausted.

While Maison’s condition has changed her lifestyle, the love and support of friends and family is what keeps both her and Amy going. “Everyone has been supportive with their kind words of encouragement and prayers,” said Amy. However, with Amy being the sole provider and facing upcoming layoffs at work, she is in need of assistance.

With Maison’s surgery quickly approaching, Amy hopes to raise $7,940 through RedBasket.org to assist with Maison’s medical bills, travel to and from appointments, and daily living expenses. Raising these funds will give her peace of mind and will allow her to focus on what matters most to her: getting her daughter healthy again. Your fee-free donation will make a tremendous difference in both Amy and Maison’s lives. Donate and share Maison’s story today!

Maison’s surgery was performed April 16th. She came through with no complications and her kidney was the about the size of a peanut!  She came home on the 18th, sang at church (in a wheelchair!) on the 19th. She had a few bad days, but more good days. She went for a follow up appointment on the 4th and as far as her urologist is concerned, he’s done with her!  Praise God! She returned to school on May 7th, and while her energy level is still a little low, continues to improve daily. Thank you all for your donations and prayers!!
