Alicia Drelicharz (21) is a bright, young woman with a passion for the arts. Whether it’s drawing or writing stories and poems, she has a way with expressing her feelings in a creative way. After being diagnosed with anxiety at a young age, creativity has always given Alicia a sense of peace.
Alicia has been battling anxiety since she was just five years old. As she grew older, the severity of her condition also grew. In high school, she developed depression and panic attacks and has been dealing with them ever since.
While Alicia’s battle with anxiety has never been easy, the love and support of her family has always kept her going. She’s extremely thankful to have a caring mother who has offered an endless amount of love and support throughout her life. Whether it was taking her to a doctor’s appointment or being there to comfort her, Alicia’s mom has always been there.
To help improve her condition, Alicia has been seeing a psychiatrist for 16 years. Today, she is still seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist too. While this has helped her in many ways, Alicia is always looking for more ways to help her get back to living a life she loves. While doing research, she and her family learned about therapy dogs. A service animal would drastically improve Alicia’s quality of life.
Alicia hopes to raise $3,730 through RedBasket.org to purchase a therapy dog. Raising the funds to purchase a therapy dog would make a tremendous difference in her life. “This dog will make me feel safe, help me overcome the fear of leaving the house, and help me calm down when I’m having a panic attack,” said Alicia. Not only will your donation help Alicia have a constant companion, but the pup will be able to get her back to living a life she loves. Donate and share her story today!
