The Story

Wadley, GA

Samantha Salter (18) is an outgoing young woman with a passion for dance and music. Her passion for music led her to start playing the clarinet in sixth grade. She continued playing for three years in the Jefferson County High School marching band. Unfortunately, due to her recent diagnosis of leukemia, she is unable to participate in the activities she loves.

Right before Christmas 2017, Samantha noticed she wasn’t feeling like herself. She was running a fever and was noticing blood blisters. This prompted her mom, Tammy, to take her to the emergency room. After meeting with doctors, Samantha was referred to a specialist for her blood work. She had blood drawn on multiple occasions before she received the final results. In December, Samantha got devastating news. She was diagnosed with leukemia.

Since her diagnosis of leukemia, Samantha’s life has changed dramatically. Due to the severity of her condition, she is unable to attend school. She has been in the hospital since December 27 and is undergoing daily chemotherapy treatments. This has been extremely hard on her. Thankfully, she and her family have an amazing support system that has stood beside them throughout Samantha’s battle with leukemia. “I am trying to stay positive and I know that God will see me through this,” said Samantha.

Samantha and her family hope to raise $4,200 through to offset the cost of travel to and from treatments, daily living expenses, and childcare for her younger siblings while her mom is with her at the hospital. Raising these funds will allow the family to be together during Samantha’s treatments and recovery. “Life will be easier for us if my goal is fulfilled,” said Samantha. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help make a tremendous difference in the lives of a family who has already been through so much. Show Samantha support by donating and sharing her story today!
