The Story

Winter Haven, FL

Maleah Rojas (12) was very active as a young child and enjoys playing ball and cheerleading. She loves spending time with her family and going on boating and fishing trips. As a pastor’s kid, her family are devout Christians and are involved in their church.

In September 2013, Maleah was riding with her grandmother, aunt, sister, and a friend when they were struck by another car. Tragically, her sister and friend passed away upon impact. Maleah needed to be airlifted to a hospital in Tampa, Florida. During the flight, she was revived in the helicopter several times. She sustained life-threatening injuries to her head, neck, and back that have left her confined to a wheelchair.

Maleah and her family’s lives were forever changed following the accident. Due to the severity of her condition, she needs help with many basic living activities like going to the bathroom and getting ready for the day. She still experiences vertigo and has limited mobility. After a long four years of recovery, she was finally able to return to school.

Before Maleah can go back to school, she needs a wheelchair ramp installed at her home so she can get outside when the school bus picks her up. Her parents hope to raise $2,200 through RedBasket.org to cover the cost for building a concrete ramp on the front of the house. “Once the ramp is installed, Maleah can take the first steps to normalization and going to school,” said her mother, Wendy. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and help this young girl regain some of her freedom. Share her story today!
