The Story

Sneads, FL

Norman Rabon has a loving wife of 20 years and two beautiful daughters who are in their first year of college. He has always enjoyed helping others in their times of weakness and need which led him to work as a counselor for individuals recovering from mental illness and developmental disabilities. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, weightlifting, camping, and fishing. His faith has always been important to him and his family, but it was tested after being diagnosed with cancer.

During the summer, Norman began experiencing pain in his lower back that would extend down his right leg. The pain worsened to the point that he made an appointment with an orthopedic specialist. He underwent an MRI which revealed a large mass located at the tip of the spine and top of the tailbone. After receiving further scans and tests, tumors in his kidneys, lungs, and brain were also discovered. He was diagnosed with renal and clear cell carcinoma and stage 4 kidney cancer.

Norman’s cancer diagnosis completely changed his life. “Upon my diagnosis, it seemed as though my whole world had been frozen right before my eyes,” Norman said. Shortly after the diagnosis, he began four weeks of intensive radiation treatment and nine weeks of chemotherapy. Recent results revealed that the radiation was successful in shrinking the masses in his kidneys, lungs, and brain. His treatments have taken a toll on him physically, mentally, and emotionally. Despite the challenges, his faith remains strong and helps him press on.

With mounting medical bills, Norman hopes to raise $20,000 through RedBasket.org to help pay for his medical and treatment expenses. “Surviving this battle with cancer and meeting this goal will help me carry on with my everyday lifestyle and continue enjoying the rest of my life with family and friends,” said Norman. Help alleviate Norman’s accumulating medical expenses as he continues to battle cancer by making a tax-deductible donation and sharing his story today!
