Since 2007, the First Baptist Church Food Pantry has been dedicated to fighting hunger in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. With the help of dedicated staff, volunteers, and donors, the food pantry has been able to provide assistance to roughly 100 families per month by providing them with a box of food items. With the food insecurity rate of Chickasaw County at a staggering 21.9 percent, around 3,800 individuals, the food pantry is always in need of donations.
The mission of First Baptist Church is to help needy families in the local community both spiritually and physically. As an outreach ministry, First Baptist Church endeavors to provide food assistance to hungry people in the community. “We want to show them that we care about their needs,” said volunteer, Thomas Futral. As the church works continually to meet the physical needs of those in need, God fulfills their spiritual needs.
First Baptist Church hopes to raise $750 through RedBasket.org to purchase canned food and other non-perishable food items to restock the pantry shelves. While the holidays are a busy time of year for the food pantry, the need for food continues year-round. “Raising these funds would allow the church to continue its mission of feeding the hungry in our county,” said Thomas. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help enrich the lives of individuals and families struggling with food insecurity. Donate and share First Baptist Church’s story today!
