The Story

Council Bluffs, IA

Veronica Parks (22) is a loving single mother of two young boys, Tye (5) and Jayden (3). She is currently attending Iowa Western Community College as she pursues a nursing degree. She works hard to provide for her sons and works part-time. However, her life has completely changed after suffering serious leg injuries from a recent accident.

On November 26, Veronica was involved in a car accident. She ended up getting pinned between her car and an embankment. “My family and friends were traumatized,” Veronica said. She was rushed to the hospital where she underwent surgery to repair her broken right knee and left ankle. During the surgery, her doctors discovered that her injury was more severe than originally expected and would require a second surgery.

Veronica remains in the hospital as she recovers from the surgery and begins the rehabilitation process. Due to the severity of her injury, she is unable to work for at least four months. She must also take a leave from school this semester as she heals. To help sustain Veronica as she recovers, her family hopes to raise $4,000 through RedBasket.org to help cover the cost of her medical expenses and daily living bills.

“My goal is to be able to continue providing a stable home for myself and my boys,” said Veronica. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and allow this young mother fully focus on her recovery without added financial stress. Share her story today!
