The Story

Woodruff, SC

Lloyd Jones (67) has been happily married to his wife Faye (66) for 33 years. While Lloyd was never able to have children, he treats his stepchildren as they are his own. His family is his world. Lloyd has always been described as a hard worker. He enjoys doing yardwork, going fishing, and helping others. Lloyd is admired by his friends and family because he has always been someone who is willing to help others, and puts the needs of others before his own, and he is able to bring a smile to those around him. Unfortunately, Lloyd hasn’t been himself since his recent diagnosis.

In 2015, Lloyd started to notice that his energy level was drifting and waning. “I knew that something just wasn’t right,” said Lloyd. After several attempts to learn his diagnosis, the doctor informed Lloyd that he had cirrhosis of the liver. Tests concluded that Lloyd’s diagnosis was caused by a fatty liver. Doctors recently informed Lloyd that they want to do a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure to reroute blood from his liver to his heart due to the swelling of his veins. He is scheduled to undergo this surgical procedure on December 12, 2017.

When Lloyd’s family and friends learned of his diagnosis, they were devastated. The entire family was saddened because they want what’s best for Lloyd and want him to live a long, happy life. “My uncle Lloyd is a strong, hardworking, and loving man. He is suffering and we are trying to help him in any way we can,” said Randy Barnett, Lloyd’s nephew. Throughout Lloyd’s battle, he has been blessed with an amazing family and group of friends who have rallied around him.

Since his diagnosis, Lloyd’s life has changed tremendously. Life has become overwhelming for Lloyd and he worries a lot about his family and his condition. He is unable to participate in the activities he used to enjoy and is facing sickness, weakness, and limited mobility. With mounting medical bills and an upcoming treatment, Lloyd and his family are in need of assistance.

The Joneses hope to raise $10,810 through RedBasket.org to offset the costs of medical bills and travel to and from treatments. Raising these funds would allow Lloyd to focus on living a life he loves without the added stress of covering medical expenses and treatments. “It would relieve a lot of stress and anxiety to know that we received financial assistance for medical costs, medicines, and other financial hardships,” said Lloyd. Your tax-deductible donation will help Lloyd focus on his family and his healing journey without the added stress of medical bills and travel costs. Donate and share his story today!

Lloyd fought until the very end through his battle of cirrhosis of the liver. Unfortunately, on Sunday, December 17, 2017, Lloyd passed away in the hospital. He was surrounded with his family and loved ones.
