The Story

Butler, PA

Christa Baideme is a hardworking, single mother of an amazing son. Born and raised in Butler, Pennsylvania, she eventually left her hometown for college. Despite spending years away, she hoped to one day return home to work, buy a house, and live life with her son. However, she experienced unexpected setbacks that forced her to put her plan on hold.

In February 2016, Christa was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. Though the news was shocking, she viewed it as just a hiccup in her road of life. She underwent chemotherapy for six months, as well as 33 radiation treatments and a mastectomy to remove her left breast and lymph nodes. Following her treatment, her cancer was in remission and her body showed no evidence of the disease.

On October 30, 2017, Christa’s world completely changed. She fell ill with bronchitis and received an x-ray. The results revealed that her previous cancer had spread into her lungs and brain. “The initial diagnosis in 2016 felt like only a setback, but this new diagnosis is now my new normal,” Christa said. She undergoes chemotherapy treatments once every three weeks and is working with her oncologist to find alternative treatment options. Due to the side effects of her treatment, she is unable to work. In need of assistance, she moved back in with her parents who have tried to help any way they can.

With ongoing medical expenses, Christa hopes to raise $5,000 through RedBasket.org to ease the financial burden. “Reaching my goal will help me cover my obligations and allow me to focus on healing and living,” said Christa. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and sharing her story today! Show your support as Christa continues to battle cancer!
