Carl and Marie Peterson are loving parents to their 2-year-old son, Carl (CB). CB is just like any young boy. He is full of energy, loves playing outside, and enjoys playing with his toys. Unfortunately, CB hasn’t been feeling like himself lately due to his medical condition.
In November 2017, the Petersons took CB to the dentist for a routine appointment. After various tests, the dentist noticed severe cavities and decided the best approach would be for CB to have his procedure done at the Medical Center Hospital. Severe cavities in children have been known to cause large infections, so CB will need to undergo surgical procedures to fix his teeth. “We have also been watching a lump on CB’s neck. His ear, nose, and throat doctor (ENT) said he was 99% sure it was nothing, but wants to remove it because of the father's medical history,” said Marie. When Carl was a child, he had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with cancer at just 3 years old.
This year has brought a lot of physical, emotional, mental, and financial stress to the Petersons. In March, Marie was laid off and in October, Carl was laid off. In order to help the family, Marie has started her own business to help pay the bills. However, with the overwhelming cost of medical bills and procedures, the family is in need of assistance.
The Peterson family hopes to raise $10,000 through RedBasket.org to offset the cost of CB’s oral surgeries. In December, CB will be undergoing a double surgery. Raising these funds would allow the family to focus on CB’s recovery journey without the added stress of medical bills.
