Jerry and Dawn Teach are proud parents of two boys, Zackary (12) and Jacob (11). They are a very strong and close family. From birth, Jacob was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and aortic stenosis, a defect that causes narrowing of the valve in the large blood vessel branching off the heart. Despite his health challenges, he and his family have relied on their faith, love, and strength.
About a month ago, Jacob began struggling with dizziness, chest pains, and breathing. He was taken to the emergency room where doctors discovered he was experiencing heart failure due to an enlarged heart and severe regurgitation. “We were devastated and live in a constant state of fear of losing him,” Dawn said.
To treat his health conditions, Jacob is on heart medication and a specialized arthritis medicine that he receives through an IV each month. He is scheduled to undergo open heart surgery in the upcoming weeks to replace the aortic and pulmonary valves. Following the surgery, they will have to go back to the hospital on a weekly basis. However, living 75 miles from the hospital has left Jerry and Dawn unable to work while they focus on Jacob’s recovery. Between travel expenses and keeping up with daily living bills, the Teach’s finances have quickly been drained.
In need of financial assistance, Jerry and Dawn hope to raise $3,000 through RedBasket.org to help pay for Jacob’s medical expenses, travel costs, and daily living bills. “Our only goal is to see our son healthy and become financially stable again so we can properly care for him and our family,” said Dawn. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and help alleviate the financial stress of Jacob’s healing journey. Share his story today!
Please email any questions for Jacob's family to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will forward them on. Be sure to include your contact information so they can respond to you directly.
