David Arny (63) is a hardworking man with a passion for knowledge. In his free time, he enjoys blogging, reading, and spending time in the great outdoors fishing. Unfortunately, David has been unable to live a life he loves due to his recent diagnosis of metastatic prostate cancer.
After having difficulty urinating for several months, David decided to meet with an urologist to find the root of the issue. He went through numerous tests and procedures including a catheterization, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) procedure, biopsies, and two follow-up imaging sessions before learning of his diagnosis. In October 2017, doctors diagnosed David with metastatic prostate cancer. Metastatic cancer is when the disease starts in one part of the body and spreads to other parts. For David, the cancer is now in his spine, ribs, and kidneys.
Due to the severity of his illness, David has been unable to work which has left a tremendous financial strain on him. Because he has been out of work, he is at risk of losing his health insurance. With upcoming treatments and procedures, the possibility of losing his health insurance has affected David physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially.
David hopes to raise $20,000 through RedBasket.org to offset the cost of medical bills and procedures. Raising these funds would allow for David to focus on recovering without having to worry about the added stress of medical bills. “If my goal is fulfilled, I will have the serene knowledge that I won’t have left an undone burden on those people whom I love,” said David.
