Tammy Moore (46) is a single mother of an amazing 15-year-old daughter, Gracie. She enjoys music, reading, crafting, and watching old movies. One day she hopes to be able to travel throughout the United States with Gracie. Unfortunately, this loving mother’s life has drastically changed after recently being diagnosed with heart failure.
Since December 2016, Tammy has been dealing with multiple health issues. It started when she suffered two herniated disks in her spine requiring surgery. In June, she fell ill with acute bronchitis. She was put on antibiotics which helped temporarily, but needed to visit the emergency room in August due to shortness of breath and overall malaise. Doctors admitted her to the hospital with what they thought was pneumonia. However, tests revealed she was suffering from cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure, a condition where the heart muscle is abnormal preventing her heart to pump blood as well as it should.
Due to her fragile health, Tammy is unable to do anything without quickly getting fatigued. “The simplest household chore takes all day now because I am forced to take multiple breaks,” said Tammy. She recently underwent a procedure to place an implanted cardioverter defibrillator, a device that will send an electrical pulse or shock if she suffers a life-threatening cardiac event. Due to the severity of her condition, there is a high probability that she will need a heart transplant.
Being unable to work, the strain of Tammy’s medical and living expenses have made focusing on her recovery challenging. She hopes to raise $1,000 through RedBasket.org to help pay for her medical, travel, and daily living expenses. “Meeting my goal would immediately release the heaviness I feel at this moment,” she said. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and relieve the financial burden of her Tammy’s time of need. Share her story today!
