The Story

Lowell, AR

On February 2, 2016, Mike Whitehead and his family had an idea for an organization. With a passion for our country, patriotism, and supporting our troops, he wanted to find a way to show soldiers the support they deserve, thus Project Red Friday was born.

Project Red Friday works to intentionally raise awareness for those serving in the military by simply wearing red shirts on Friday. “It is saying one day a week, ‘Today I remember that there are men and women in uniform protecting my liberty, freedom, and our way of life’,” said Mike.

With a tremendous amount of support from the local community, Mike is now trying to take this project to a nationwide level. To enhance the organization’s mission, he has started a program called Operation Rucksack. With the help of dedicated staff, volunteers, and donors, this program took off. “We put together Christmas time care packages into a backpack with approximately 30 items in them,” said Mike. However, the organization is in need of funds to accomplish their mission of providing these rucksacks.

Mike hopes to raise $1,825 through RedBasket.org to purchase backpacks for Operation Rucksack. Raising these funds would allow the organization to be able to purchase 100 backpacks to create 100 care packages for soldiers, making the total Rucksacks for this year 250. “This lets our soldiers know that we support them and we are here to help them and their families,” said Mike. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help enrich the lives of those who are making the ultimate sacrifice for their families and our country. Donate and share their story today!
