The Story

Laguna Hills, CA

Jadyn Hadix (23) is a bright and friendly young adult with a quirky sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She loves swimming, drawing and spending time with her friends. Animals have always been a calming influence for her, especially dogs. Now, she is in need of a canine companion to improve her quality of life.

Jadyn was diagnosed with hearing loss when she was just five years old. As the years went by, she began to struggle with paying attention in school, social interaction, and dramatic mood swings. Jadyn was further diagnosed with several learning disabilities and processing disorders, as well as depression and anxiety. She was put into special education classes and therapy to help her succeed in school. As she entered her teenage years, she began developing autistic tendencies.

With multiple health issues, functioning every day is challenging for Jadyn. She has a complex regimen of medications and diet that she must keep up with daily. Being self-conscious of her conditions, she can be very susceptible to triggering mood swings. After the loss of her mother last year, many of her mood and autistic symptoms worsened. To help her function more independently in daily life, her doctors suggested that she looks into getting a service dog.

Jadyn was recently approved to receive a medical service dog through Little Angels Service Dogs of San Diego, California. Her service dog will provide hearing alerts if a smoke detector or alarm goes off or when someone is trying to speak to her. To assist with her autism, her Little Angel will be able to notice when she is beginning to feel anxious and will calm her down. Most importantly, she would have a trusted companion with her wherever she goes. “It would be a blessing to have an animal to love and help me with my challenges,” Jadyn said.

Jadyn and her family hopes to raise $20,000 through RedBasket.org to offset the cost of her service dog and begin the training process. “It is my hope that having this service dog will give me more independence, and allow me to live a more functional, normal life like everyone else does,” said Jadyn. Bring joy to Jadyn by making a tax-deductible donation and allowing her to get her life changing Little Angel. Share her story today!
