The Story

Louisville, MS

Alecia Holder is a caring individual who has a heart for helping others. Her love of helping people directed her to pursue a career in the medical field at just 18 years old.

From day one, Alecia has always been devoted to her career as a traveling nurse, however she rarely got to spend quality time with her family. As someone who values family, Alecia decided to change paths. In order to come home and spend valuable time with her nieces, Alecia accepted a position at a nearby, rural hospital. After she accepted this position, Alecia was required to complete a pre-employment physical. This required a chest x-ray which revealed something on her left lung: lung cancer.

Alecia’s diagnosis of lung cancer in May 2017 came as a complete shock to her and her loved ones. Since her diagnosis, her entire life has changed drastically. Alecia was someone who was always on the go and full of life. Her cancer diagnosis has affected her physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. “Everything has changed. I have gone from going to see my nieces every time I got a chance to them coming to see me lying in bed,” said Alecia. Since she is unable to work, Alecia’s medical bills have become a burden for her.

Alecia hopes to raise $2,000 through RedBasket.org to assist with medical bills. Raising these funds would allow her to continue her passion of helping others without the financial burden that medical bills bring. “I’ve dedicated my life to trying to help others. I would love for my legacy of helping others to continue,” said Alecia. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help alleviate Alecia’s financial burden. Donate and share her story today!
