The Story

Booneville, MS

Since 1928, members of Prentiss Baptist Church have had passion and heart for helping those in need. This interest prompted the church to form what is today known as the Prentiss Baptist Food Pantry. Since the early 1980s, the food pantry has served thousands of people. However, with the rate of food insecurity on the rise in Prentiss County, they are in need of more donations.

Following its founding in February 2007, the Prentiss Baptist Association has helped various families in Prentiss County by ministering to them through feeding them both spiritually and physically. The mission of Prentiss Baptist Food Pantry is to help needy families by providing food and clothes. “We provide food and clothes to the homeless and others down on their luck,” said Ministry Assistant, Lanette Wold.

Prentiss Baptist Food Pantry runs off of donations from kind individuals and organizations. Whether it is clothes, food, or money, these donations can go a long way. In 2017, the food pantry has provided aid to 8,235 individuals, making a huge difference in the community.

In partnership with WoodmenLife Mississippi Chapter 60, Prentiss Baptist Food Pantry hopes to raise $550 through RedBasket.org to purchase food items to assist families in immediate need. With the staggering number of people struggling with food insecurity on the rise, your tax-deductible donation could make a huge difference in the lives of many. “As of right now, we will average about 2,745 families in 2017,” said Lanette. This fundraiser is part of the Fighting Hunger Challenge. During the third quarter of 2017, WoodmenLife and RedBasket.org are partnering to support our National Community Focus of Fighting Hunger. WoodmenLife chapters are encouraging community hunger relief organizations to fundraise through RedBasket.org and raise money to purchase supplies and provide meals for their communities.
