The Story

High Point, NC

Anthony Martone has a passion for his school and his community. He is a student at Southwest Guilford High School. Outside of his academics, Anthony is very involved in Boy Scouts. This organization has helped shape Anthony into the young man that he is today. In order to take the next step and earn the rank of Eagle Scout, Anthony is planning a project for his high school.

Southwest Guilford High School has been looking for someone to construct a chalkboard for their outdoor classroom. This outdoor chalkboard will allow teachers to be able to leave the classroom to teach classes outside, while having the proper equipment to do so. Anthony is on the way to earning his Eagle Scout rank, and saw this project as a fantastic opportunity. He wanted to make an impact on his school, teachers, and classmates by allowing everyone the chance to enjoy the nice weather while learning.

This project is important to the students at Southwest Guilford High School because according to Green Schoolyard Network, having outdoor classrooms helps foster the use of systems thinking and shifts educational focus from secondary to primary sources. This outdoor classroom will allow students to gain different educational experience and exposure which will help keep them engaged.

Anthony is hoping to have this project complete and earn his Eagle Scout rank by November 2017. To make this project a reality, Anthony needs to raise $500 through to purchase supplies to build the outdoor chalkboard and earn his Eagle Scout rank. With the funds raised, he will be purchasing wood, paint, and tools to help him build the chalkboard. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help Anthony achieve his goal and receive this high rank. Let’s join together and help build Southwest Guilford High School a great chalkboard!
