The Story

Letart, WV

Bruce Friend is a lover of nature. In his free time, it is almost guaranteed that you can find him enjoying some time in the great outdoors with friends and family. Unfortunately, due to an accident, Bruce has been unable to participate in the activities he loves most and has had to put his life on hold.

In May 2016, Bruce was hard at work when the unthinkable happened. While he was working on a sundial style roof in Carthage, Tennessee, he fell 15 feet to the ground. After the fall, Bruce was rushed to the hospital where he later found out that he broke numerous bones. Doctors then performed an emergency surgery to place a metal plate in his right leg and put casts on both of his broken legs. Unfortunately, after his surgeries, Bruce continued to get various infections from May to September. Due to the major infections and extreme amount of pain Bruce endured, he had to have his right leg amputated below the knee. Given the severity of Bruce’s situation, he is unable to work, causing him a tremendous amount of financial stress. His numerous surgeries have taken a toll on him physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Bruce and his family hope to raise $5,000 through RedBasket.org to assist with medical bills. Raising these funds would allow Bruce to be able to contribute to his children, gain back independence, and get back to living a life he enjoys. “I have exhausted all of my resources and ways to pay for these things,” said Bruce. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help Bruce get on his way to living a better life. Donate and share his story today!
