The Story

Shelbyville, TN

Kenneth “Kenny” Blindt (37) is a proud father of four, and a loving husband to his wife, Denna. With four children keeping them busy, Kenny and Denna have an extremely active lifestyle. Whether it’s going camping, playing games at home, attending church services, or spending time with friends, the Blindt family is always on the go. Unfortunately, Kenny hasn’t been able to live a life he loves due to his diagnosis of two forms of cancer.

Three years ago, Kenny was diagnosed with cancer behind his eye. Doctors removed that eye and shortly after, Kenny developed cataracts in the other eye. Kenny’s diagnosis has left him out of work and medical bills keep piling up. Then in July 2017, Kenny started to experience fever and flu-like symptoms, which prompted a visit to the doctor’s office. It was then that Kenny was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer. The news of Kenny’s diagnosis shocked him and his family. “There are no words to describe how we felt,” said Denna.

With Kenny being unable to work for the past three years, Denna has taken on the role of sole provider for the family. She works part-time while trying to meet the needs of Kenny as well as the four children at home. Kenny’s diagnosis has made him very weak and it’s difficult for him to perform daily routines, so Denna serves as his full-time caregiver.

Between medical bills and traveling to and from Kenny’s treatments, the Blindt family is in need of financial assistance. The Blindts hope to raise $20,000 through RedBasket.org to assist with medical bills, daily living expenses, and traveling to and from Kenny’s treatments. “If our goal is fulfilled, they would find the cure to heal him,” said Denna.
