The Story

Pontotoc, MS

The mission of the Pontotoc City School District is to cultivate a spirit of pride, growth, and service to prepare students to flourish as leaders in the community and in the competitive world. Hope Wingo, a fifth grade math teacher, works daily to empower students to reach their full potential. She is devoted to creating a collaborative setting for her students which has inspired her to raise funds for new classroom furniture.

Working in an outdated classroom environment can be difficult. “I currently have 24 outdated desks in my classroom that not only take up excessive space, but also make it difficult for my students to work collaboratively with their peers,” said Hope. Hope has recently raised funds to purchase tables with dry erase tops. Not only will these tables take up less space, they will also give students adequate space to work with their peers, engage them, and reduce the amount of paper used in the classroom.

The only thing missing to enhance Hope’s classroom are chairs for the newly funded desks. “I am seeking 24 chairs to use in my math classroom,” said Hope. This project will benefit nearly 100 fifth grade students annually, for many years to come.

In need of chairs for her classroom, Hope is eager to raise $1,500 through RedBasket.org. Her goal is to have these chairs purchased just in time for the first day of school. “Without completion of this project, my students will not be able to comfortably use the tables that have been funded for our classroom,” said Hope. By making a tax-deductible donation, you can help enhance the learning environment for students at Pontotoc Middle School for years to come!
