Hale Center Meals on Wheels is an organization that offers meals to anyone who is 60 years of age or older Monday through Friday. The association was established in 1981 by local citizens who saw a need in the Hale Center community. They began by preparing and packaging meals, and gathering volunteers to deliver meals to elderly people within the community.
“The mission of Hale Center Meals on Wheels is to prepare and deliver meals to the elderly, disabled, and homebound in our community,” said Meals on Wheels Board President, Carl Marshall. According to the Feeding America Hunger Statistics, 13.6 percent of the Hale Center population struggles with hunger, which is equivalent to 4,820 people. Just last year, the organization prepared and delivered 15,240 meals to those who may not get a hot meal otherwise.
With the growing number of people in the community who are hungry, Hale Center Meals on Wheels hopes to raise $5,000 through RedBasket.org to purchase food items to help more people. “These funds would ensure our ability to continue to meet this need in our community in spite of rising food costs,” said Carl. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Hale Center Meals on Wheels today and help them on their way to ending hunger in Hale Center, Texas!
This fundraiser is part of the Fighting Hunger Challenge. During the third quarter of 2017, WoodmenLife and RedBasket.org are partnering to support our National Community Focus of Fighting Hunger. WoodmenLife chapters are encouraging community hunger relief organizations to fundraise through RedBasket.org and raise money to purchase supplies and provide meals for their communities. In partnership with WoodmenLife Texas Chapter 1036, Hale Center Meals on Wheels hopes to raise $5,000 through RedBasket.org to purchase and prepare assorted food items for its clients.
