The Story

Spartanburg, SC

William “Bill” Mostiler has been a hard worker his whole life. As a young boy, his work ethic was remarkable. He started out with small jobs such as cutting grass and washing cars. After high school graduation, Bill went on to serve for our country in the United States Army. Unfortunately, due to his condition he has had to stop working. “Having to give up my jobs has affected me more than anything else,” said Bill.

On September 10, 2014, Bill had an appointment with his primary care physician for a vague pain in his left side. Due to his family history, Bill thought it might be pancreatic cancer. In December, he visited with an oncologist who confirmed he had pancreatic cancer. The cancer had also spread to his left lung.

When Bill was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer his church rallied behind him and his family. Learning about the diagnosis right before Christmas brought an immense amount of sadness for their holiday season. They prayed that the chemotherapy would be “kind” to Bill. During the first 18 months of chemotherapy, their prayers were answered. Bill was able to continue working and was able to live a relatively good life. Then in early 2016, the cancer spread to more places in Bill’s lungs and now his liver.

Bill hopes to raise $15,200 through RedBasket.org to pay for out-of-pocket medical bills. “Just knowing that I will be able to allow my family not to be burdened with so many medical bills would be the biggest asset from fundraising,” Bill said. Show your support for Bill and relieve the financial stress of his cancer battle! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and share his story today.
