The Story

Concord, VA

Gleaning for the World is dedicated to sharing the love of God at home and around the world. Based out of Concord, Virginia, the non-profit organization has been a lifeline to many American families who lack healthy food options. Through efficient delivery of high-quality, life-saving supplies, Gleaning for the World helps meet the basic needs of victims of poverty throughout the world.

Partnering with organizations that directly work with families getting back on their feet, Gleaning for the World provides food and other necessary items to these impoverished families. “We provide healthy food choices with fresh vegetables, canned foods, healthy cereals and more to regions where families need better access,” said the Donor Services Representative, Michael Justice. In 2016 alone, Gleaning for the World provided hundreds of thousands of meals to hurting families.

One of the most requested items in food banks is milk, but it is rarely donated. Children need milk for proper growth and development. Launching a local campaign, Gleaning for the World is coordinating with local agencies, churches, and food pantries to distribute more than 12,000 gallons of milk and juice to families throughout Central Virginia. “For low-income families, milk is a luxury item,” Michael said. “This project will provide a critical resource to thousands of underprivileged families in our community.”

Gleaning for the World hopes to raise $5,000 through RedBasket.org to purchase 2,100 cases of milk and 1,050 orange juice cases. “This is a rare opportunity for many families across the region,” Michael said. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and help provide milk and juice to families in the Central Virginia. Share this story today!
